Bouncy Hair

I've been really bad with curling hair and this past week I have practiced on myself haha. I never really liked curling my hair because it makes me look like a little girl//doll, like goldilocks, you know? So first, I tried to curl my hair with a flat iron. I've done it before on other people and it looked great but I don't know why it was so weird on my hair! Is it possible because my hair is so damaged? o.o I'll try again next time. Then I used my marcel iron as a wand and curled the rest of my head. It turned out really pretty, especially with my hair color. But it made my hair three inches shorter! I think I would like it a lot more if I had longer hair. So this is how it turned out.

The next day, I slept over at my parents' house and I forgot to bring my flat iron and theirs happen to break! So I had to curl my hair. I used a waver that my mom had and I loveddd it. It looked so natural and didn't really take away any length. I got so many compliments on it that day and people even asked if my hair was naturally that wavy. I wish! I would love to perm my hair like this but my hair has obviously been damaged enough.

I did not know how much hair I had until I spent an hour each time curling it. I've always complained how little hair I had but I guess it's just so fine that it looks thin. I also have multiple burn scars on my hands and ear -.- But you know, gotta keep practicing.

Happy International Donut Day!

I went there for a free donut but ended up getting a dozen since I waited in line for 20 minutes, might as well right? That's how they make business, smart smart.

I've been feeling under the weather this past week so I've been lazy to put on makeup. I have gotten so used to doing a winged eyeliner just to make my eyes look more almond shaped looking and once you get used to makeup, you feel like you look super bare without it. I guess I'd say that I'm glad I was lazy these past few days because I'm slowly becoming okay with being bare faced again, haha. All I've been doing is mascara. People always complain that girls get super insecure when they don't have their makeup on, but that's just how it is! We get so used to how we look in foundation and eyeliner and falsies that without them, we feel naked. However, just remember that everyone is beautiful in their own way and don't forget that. Embrace your natural beauty.(:

What color is my hair now?

I changed my hair color twice in the past few months! So I was aiming for a pastel blue but my hair wouldn't get light enough because of my previous red, so I settled with a dark blue. It took me a while to get used to because it was so bright.

And now I'm blonde! I just removed the blue and bleached it one more time. I like cool tones so I've been toning it with ash and I use purple shampoo. It looks almost gray.

Hilltop Beauty School

Hey guys! I haven't blogged for a really long time and I've made a big change. I transferred to Hilltop Beauty School because I just wasn't happy at Cinta Aveda Institute. I felt like they were more interested in making money than helping us graduate successfully. I didn't feel like I was going to school, every day felt like work. It was worse than work, actually, because they treated their employees better than their students. If we were three minutes late to school, they would send us home, which costs us $150 because they charge us whenever we miss a day. Therefore, I ended up owing about $1,800 because I missed a lot of school. Some days I just needed to rest because I don't have days off due to work, and I wasn't able to stand all day at school for ten hours. Speaking of standing, we literally had to stand for ten hours. No sitting allowed. When we were on break (if they even gave us any time to take a break), we had to go outside and sit on the sidewalk or go into the other building, walk up two floors, and sit there. There was a bench for décor I guess, and students kept sitting on it and one day they just took it away -.- It's not that I'm lazy, but we get tired! I felt like it was a game with them. They keep thinking of new rules to make it more difficult for us. We couldn't use the elevators so we had to constantly climb three or four flights of stairs throughout the day to either go to our lockers or the break room or the experience center to meet our clients. Basically, that school just drained me and made me dread going since I felt that we were just money makers to them.

I've been a lot happier at Hilltop Beauty School. The process of transferring took way too long because Cinta Aveda was not being efficient, but I finally got to start Hilltop about a month ago. I love the teachers there because if we want to learn something, they would go out of their way to teach us. If they didn't know how to do something and we wanted to learn, they would go and learn how to do it and then show us. They are also very flexible with their schedule so for a lot of us that have to work to support ourselves, we can show up whenever we get a chance to. They don't charge us for anything extra. Our tuition is a flat rate, the way it should be. Also, the students there are super nice. I get along with them a lot better.

So since I'm in a better school with a great environment, I feel so much more motivated to get my hours and finish as soon as possible. Hopefully I'll be out of there in a few months!

Balmain Workshop

I took a Balmain Hair class and am now certified to do hair extensions! It was expensive but I'd say it was worth taking this class. We only had one day to learn everything so our instructor, Julie, tried her best to teach us everything she could in eight hours and we crammed all the information into our heads. I would say the technique isn't too difficult, it just takes mastering it. I practiced on my sister and I know I need more practice before actually charging people for the service because it's not cheap. a service can go from $300 to $1500. It's crazy. But hair extensions are getting very popular and a lot of people get them now so it's a good business to be in. I do like doing hair extensions so hopefully I get more chances to practice and get better at it. Soo if you ladies, or gentlemen, want hair extensions, hit me up!

Comfy flats!

I've always had trouble finding comfortable flats because of my bunion. There was this one pair of cheetah print flats that I loveddd but then someone stole them when I left them in front of Lam's apartment -.- Anyways, I've bought like three pairs after that and I end up wearing them all only once because they hurt! And I basically stand all day so that doesn't work for me. I realized I had to start looking for flats that don't push against my bunion but cover over them. I found these at Payless and they are the most comfortable flats I have ever worn!
They were about $25 each. Yeah, Payless raised their prices a bit.. ): But at least they're comfy and they look nice. So of course, I bought two pairs haha. Try them out!

I know I've been M.I.A.

I haven't posted anything since last year ): But things have been tough and I've been super busy because I decided to take classes at a community college by my house. I also got another job because I didn't like living paycheck to paycheck. Now I'm just too stressed out and overworked. I can't wait until I finish school and have more time to myself. I can feel my body giving up on me. I black out when I move too quickly and my head is always heavy. I feel like I can't be complaining because I chose to get another job and go to two schools, but I can't help but hate the life I'm living. I just want to fast forward to the part where I'm successful and can sit back and enjoy life.

I've been thinking about transferring cosmetology schools because I honestly hate Cinta Aveda Institute, but I have to do some research.. Maybe I can go to a school with a more flexible schedule so I can work more.

Oh, I'm looking forward to the 16th though. I'm taking a Balmain hair extension class that day and will be certified at the end of the workshop. If I'm good and get a handful of clientele, I can make some pretty good income. I'm excited!

My All Time Favorite Season

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and was able to spend it with your family, friends, and loved ones. I spent the day with my family. My sister came home from college for the break and she brought her friend back with her because she's from Dubai and my family didn't want her to be alone during the holiday. I thought that was really sweet of my family. We went to my grandparents' house in San Jose and had a feast. My boyfriend came too and he was super nervous about it all week but there really wasn't any reason to. Everyone likes him.(:

It's been a crazy year, but what made me really happy yesterday was that in the end, we still have each other. Even though we're all doing our own thing, barely seeing each other, constantly checking up with one another.. we still have such a strong bond. I've had friendships that ended as fast as it started but with family, no matter how bad things have gotten, they're always the ones I turn to. They're there for me when no one else is. And I am very lucky to have parents and a little sister that love me so much.

I've been experiencing cold symptoms this week and this morning, I woke up with a really sore throat. So I spent the morning in bed making my wishlist, since my birthday and Christmas is coming up! A camera is on the top of my list because I just love photography. I always try to take artsy pictures with my phone but that's the best you can get with a camera phone. I've wanted to invest in a nice camera but it's taking me a while to get that much money to spare right now. Fingers crossed that someone will get it for me.(;

Also, last week was finals week so I'm about to move up to Beta. I really don't want to phase up because I love love love Becca, but at least I'm almost halfway through with my program so yaaay!
