Hey guys! I haven't blogged for a really long time and I've made a big change. I transferred to Hilltop Beauty School because I just wasn't happy at Cinta Aveda Institute. I felt like they were more interested in making money than helping us graduate successfully. I didn't feel like I was going to school, every day felt like work. It was worse than work, actually, because they treated their employees better than their students. If we were three minutes late to school, they would send us home, which costs us $150 because they charge us whenever we miss a day. Therefore, I ended up owing about $1,800 because I missed a lot of school. Some days I just needed to rest because I don't have days off due to work, and I wasn't able to stand all day at school for ten hours. Speaking of standing, we literally had to stand for ten hours. No sitting allowed. When we were on break (if they even gave us any time to take a break), we had to go outside and sit on the sidewalk or go into the other building, walk up two floors, and sit there. There was a bench for décor I guess, and students kept sitting on it and one day they just took it away -.- It's not that I'm lazy, but we get tired! I felt like it was a game with them. They keep thinking of new rules to make it more difficult for us. We couldn't use the elevators so we had to constantly climb three or four flights of stairs throughout the day to either go to our lockers or the break room or the experience center to meet our clients. Basically, that school just drained me and made me dread going since I felt that we were just money makers to them.
I've been a lot happier at Hilltop Beauty School. The process of transferring took way too long because Cinta Aveda was not being efficient, but I finally got to start Hilltop about a month ago. I love the teachers there because if we want to learn something, they would go out of their way to teach us. If they didn't know how to do something and we wanted to learn, they would go and learn how to do it and then show us. They are also very flexible with their schedule so for a lot of us that have to work to support ourselves, we can show up whenever we get a chance to. They don't charge us for anything extra. Our tuition is a flat rate, the way it should be. Also, the students there are super nice. I get along with them a lot better.
So since I'm in a better school with a great environment, I feel so much more motivated to get my hours and finish as soon as possible. Hopefully I'll be out of there in a few months!
